The comprehensive assessment is done by an Occupational Therapist. The assessment process includes a detailed and systematic process used to evaluate an child's physical, cognitive, emotional, and sensory abilities in relation to their daily activities and functional goals. The assessment consists of a initial interview with the caregivers and the child's history, then the OT will observe the child's functional performance with a variety of tasks. The OT uses standardized assessment tools to measure the child's abilities in a structred way to provide reliable, objective data that can help identify areas of concern, track progress, and support clinical decision making.
The purpose of the assessment is to gather information that allows the OT to understand the child's strengths and challenges so that the OT can develop a personalized therapy plan to improve function, safety, and overall quality of life.
